The COVID-19 pandemic, and its impact on society, industry, and politics, has highlighted the critical need for strong and courageous leadership. Our business and political leaders have been forced to respond to new and fast-changing situations, and successful leaders have responded by taking calculated risks, implementing innovations, and speeding up decision-making, while also ensuring that societal inequalities are sensitively considered.

We are delighted to welcome one of these transformational leaders, Tamara Vrooman, as our speaker for the 2022 Hycroft Lecture. Tamara is currently CEO of the Vancouver Airport Authority (YVR), Canada’s second busiest airport, a role she assumed just as the pandemic grounded most air travel. Prior to this appointment, Tamara was President & CEO of Vancity, Deputy Minister of Finance for the Province of British Columbia, and Secretary to the Treasury Board, and CEO of the Public Sector Employers’ Council.

Tamara is an expert on the economy, social change, and environmental sustainability, and known in Canada and internationally for her successful implementation of change in complex organizations. In her compelling and inspirational talk, Tamara will provide valuable insights on business and the nature of leadership and share some of the life lessons and experiences that helped propel her to the life she leads today.

This year, tickets will be available for the lecture and dinner, or the lecture only. Tickets are $90 for UWCV members for the lecture and dinner ($95 for non-members), and $35 for UWCV members for the lecture only ($40 for non-members.) Tickets can be purchased by clicking the registration button below. UWCV members can secure the member price by logging into the members’ section of the UWCV website or by contacting the office. The proceeds raised from this event will go towards maintaining Hycroft, our members’ home away from home, and supporting the activities and work of our club.

Register by May 20th, 2022 to secure your place. Due to the limited availability of tickets for the dinner, members will be given the first opportunity to reserve dinner spots and early registration is advised. Registration will be opened to guests and members of the public on April 1st.

We hope you will join us for an insightful and thought-provoking evening, shared with friends, at our beloved Hycroft.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
Yours sincerely,
The UWCV Hycroft Lecture Committee.
