April 17 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm$10
Environment Committee presents Earth Day Symposium.
We Welcome Karen Wristen, who is the Executive Director of Living Oceans Society, a non-profit dedicated to marine conversation for over 20 years. Living Oceans believes that healthy oceans are essential for healthy communities; and we cannot, as a species, achieve anything approaching sustainability while continuing to degrade our natural environment.
Pummy Kaur studied many disciplines, including global issues, science, philosophy, religion and spirituality. She is a cultural creative, educator, international speaker, social justice activist, and the author of “What would Ghandi do- Simple Solutions to Global Problems”. Dr David Suzuki is quoted as he agrees with the author’s analysis and both the cause and the solutions for the problems.
Ted Lightfoot has for years been actively promoting the preservation of the wetlands in Township of Langley. He organized the West Creek Awareness Group. He is a dedicated member of WOLF (Watcher’s of Langley’s Forest), the Glen Valley Watershed Society, the Langley Field Naturalists, and LEPS (Langley Environmental Partners Society). He has been recently rewarded the Environmental Hero Award for his efforts in preserving Nathan Creek. He strongly believes that if you (s)ave the wetlands, you save the salmon, you save the beavers, you save the orcas, and you save humanity.
