Expect the Unexpected: A Surprising (?)

Life is full of surprises. Sometimes we make assumptions that turn out to be incorrect, and we are intrigued and (hopefully) illuminated by what we learn from these experiences. Join faculty from Langara College as we explore a number of topics, both historical and contemporary, perhaps discovering some unexpected things along the way.

Registration is open to members and their guests. You’ll need to register for the zoom meetings as well, even though the zoom link, ID and passcode are below.

All presentations will take place at 7:00 pm. Presentations that will be taking place via Zoom. Please register above to receive the Zoom link and meeting credentials.

Wednesday, April 27 via Zoom (No charge) – Click here to register
Speaker: Michael Fulton, Department of History, Latin and Political Science
Topic: The Predictably Unpredictable, Reynald of Chatillon, Crusader Prince

Reynald of Chatillon was one of the most sensational figures associated with the crusades. He arrived a lowly knight, rose to become prince of Antioch, spent more than a decade in a dungeon, and later became the most influential vassal of the king of Jerusalem and a personal enemy of Saladin. In this talk, we will explore the life and career of this provocative figure.

Mark your calendar for Spring Lecture Series in May – May 9 (at Hycroft), 12 (via Zoom) & 19 (at Hycroft).
