Trump’s Trolls: The Rise of the Empowered Alt-Right

October 1, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The victory of Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election was made possible by many factors, including the unexpected and precipitous rise of the so-called alt-right.  This talk explores the phenomenon of the alt-right and the online culture that has facilitated its coalescence.  Regardless of the trajectory of the Trump administration, the phenomenon of Trumpism will persist in American political life.  In this talk we will address the likely effects of this reorientation of American politics.

The UWCV Program Committee invites you to join them for this intriguing lecture with Dr. Lealle Ruhl from Langara College. This lecture is part of our Mad Men and Wicked Women lecture series taking place at Hycroft from September through to October that features various instructors from the Langara College Classical Studies and History department who will provide an interesting look at notable and noteworthy men and women throughout history. These events are free to attend for UWCV members and their invited guests only. Pre-registration is required.
