ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
Louise Southwood is a world-recognized classical guitarist. Under the
mentorship of Carlos Bonell, she studied at the prestigious Royal College
of Music in London from which she graduated with honors in 2000. Since
then she has taught, performed, recorded, tutored, and traveled. Her most
recent recordings, “Emergence” and “Chrysalis”, illustrate her varied
instrumental techniques and musical interests which she will share with us
at this wonderful concert.
Stanton C. Jack is one of the new generation of Canadian classical
guitarists. He combines technical excellence with musical sensitivity
expressed through the unique and rich tonal language of the guitar.
Stanton completed his Masters of Music degree in Guitar Performance at
UBC in 2006. He is enjoying a successful career, performing as a soloist
and with chamber music groups in a variety of settings, teaching, and as a
recording artist whose CD releases include “Soul of the Guitar” and
“Caminos”.
Besides performing widely, both Louise and Stanton currently work at the
VSO School of Music, where Stanton is head of the Guitar and Harp
Department and adjudicates for the UBC School of Music.
