SUMMARY:Hycroft Gallery - Denis Nokony
DESCRIPTION:Members and guests are cordially invited to the Hycroft Gallery to see Drawings and Paintings by Denis Nokony. \nDenis studied drawing and painting with watercolourist Reta Cowley at the University of Saskatoon. In 1972\, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and abandoned his law school plan. His experience as a Canadian artist in a vast country has generated a range of eclectic expressions. “Figure in Landscape” has long been the theme of many of Nokony’s paintings where he combines imagery of characters interacting in various spaces and places. He developed the “Made to Measure” series using trompe l’oeil to enliven his landscape compositions. As he deliberately merged his interests in representational\, abstract and non-object art throughout his career he also created ceramic works\, additive sculpture in wood and metal\, serigraphs and scratchboard drawings to test the bounds of the media. \nThe opening reception is Wednesday\, June 3 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm and everyone is welcome! Registration not required. \nVisArt Committee
