Visual Arts at Hycroft

The Hycroft Gallery

Located on the Upper Level, the Hycroft Gallery is curated and managed by the UWCV Visual Arts Committee (VisArts). Each month we feature a different fine art or craft exhibit and host free opening receptions with the artists which Club members and guests from the public are welcome to attend. We also host occasional arts-related events and excursions.

VisArts’ Mandate

Our mandate is to showcase the work of talented BC artists and designers in the Hycroft Gallery and to inform and enrich members and guests by featuring diverse styles and mediums.

Open Call to Artists

The University Women’s Club of Vancouver’s VisArts Committee is having an Open Call for BC Artists to showcase their work at our Victorian Heritage Club House in Shaughnessy, Vancouver. Interested artists are encouraged to download the below application and email to visarts@uwcvancouver.ca

The Studio Series: Behind the Scenes

This speaker series features presentations by accomplished artists and established representatives of the visual arts world. It showcases three-dimensional works that we are unable to exhibit in the limited space of the Hycroft Gallery, such as large-scale artworks, sculptures, ceramics, and textiles. With the emphasis on storytelling and glimpsing “behind the scenes”, guest speakers both inspire and inform.

  • Check the Events Page for current and upcoming events. Registration is required.

Special Excursions

From time to time VisArts hosts group excursions for club members and their guests to attend art-related events hosted outside of Hycroft. Previous excursions have included a guided tour of the Bill Reid Gallery, a field trip to the Museum of Anthropology, and a talk by Ivan Sayer at his “Art Deco Woman” exhibit at the Museum of Vancouver.
